Platinum price forecast for 2026
At the start of 2026, the platinum price still reached a record of just over $2,900 per troy ounce, but during the course of 2026 the price fell sharply. This could be explained by large-scale profit-taking by investors after the market became overheated.
A strengthening US dollar and revised expectations around (rising) interest rates from the Federal Reserve also caused the earlier optimism to weaken.
UBS recently forecast that the platinum price could reach $1,700 per troy ounce by the end of 2026. If the platinum price breaks through the $1,900 mark this year, analyst Muhammad Umair even expects the platinum price to rise toward $2,150 in the coming months.
J.P. Morgan expects the platinum price could rise to $1,800 per troy ounce by the end of 2026.
